Terms of Use

Who we are

This website is operated by the Church of Christ congregation described on our About page. Throughout these terms, "we", "us", and "the church" refer to that congregation, and "you" refers to anyone visiting or using this site.

Using this site

You are welcome to read, share, and quote what we publish here. Most of the site is open to anyone. Some areas — writing a post, viewing member records — require an account, and some are limited to those the church has given administrative responsibility.

Please do not attempt to access accounts or records that are not yours, disrupt the site's operation, or use automated tools to harvest personal information from it.

Your account

Accounts are created through our sign-in provider. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure, and for what is posted from it. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access.

We may suspend or remove an account that is used to break these terms, or where doing so is necessary to protect others in the congregation.

What you write

You keep ownership of the posts, prayer requests, and other material you submit. By submitting it, you give the church permission to display it on this site and in related church communications.

You are responsible for making sure what you post is truthful, is yours to share, and does not disclose private details about another person without their agreement — a particular concern with prayer requests, which often touch on health, family, and personal hardship.

We ask that contributions be consistent with the teaching and conduct of the church. We may edit, unpublish, or remove content that is not, and we may do so without notice where the content is harmful or unlawful.

Prayer requests

Requests marked private are intended for those who lead prayer within the congregation, not for publication. We will treat them that way. Please understand that prayer is a shared activity, and a request may be spoken aloud among those praying unless you tell us otherwise.

Our own material

Sermons, articles, song arrangements, and images published by the church remain ours or our contributors'. You may share and reproduce them for personal, devotional, or congregational use. Please ask before using them commercially.

Links to other sites

Where we link to another website, we do so because we think it may be useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

No warranty

We maintain this site with care, but we provide it as it is. We cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or complete. Nothing here is legal, medical, financial, or professional advice.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as the site develops or as the law requires. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.

Part Two

Privacy Policy

We handle personal information in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its implementing rules. This section explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

What we collect, and why

Account details

  • ·First and last name

  • ·Profile photo, if your sign-in provider supplies one

To create your account, sign you in, and show who wrote a post or comment.

Membership record

  • ·Membership status (visitor, regular attendee, member, staff)
  • ·Baptism date, where recorded
  • ·Birth date, if you provide it
  • ·Phone number, if you provide it
  • ·Areas you have volunteered to serve in

To keep the congregation's records, greet members on their birthdays, and organise service rosters.

Things you write

  • ·Blog posts, including drafts
  • ·Prayer requests, including whether you marked them private

To publish what you asked us to publish, and to pray for what you asked us to pray for.

Technical records

  • ·Sign-in session information
  • ·Error reports when something breaks

To keep the site secure and working.

About sensitive personal information

Under the Data Privacy Act, information about a person's religious affiliation, health, and age is treated as sensitive personal information and given stronger protection. Your membership record, baptism date, birth date, and any health details you include in a prayer request fall into this category. We collect them only because you have chosen to be part of this congregation and have given them to us for that purpose. We do not sell them, and we do not share them for advertising.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers to run this site. They process data on our instructions only. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Clerk

Handles sign-in and stores your login credentials. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, they pass us your name, email address, and profile photo — never your password.

Neon

Hosts the database holding your membership record and anything you have written.

Cloudinary

Stores images uploaded to the site.

Sentry

Receives technical error reports so faults can be diagnosed.

Netlify

Serves the website itself.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside the Philippines. Where that happens, we rely on their contractual commitments to protect it to a comparable standard.

Within the church, your membership record is visible to those given administrative responsibility. Anything you publish as a blog post is visible to everyone; drafts are visible only to you.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and membership record for as long as you are part of the congregation, and afterwards only where there is a genuine reason to — congregational history, or a legal obligation. Posts you have published stay on the site unless you delete them or ask us to. If your account is deleted, the posts attached to it are removed with it.

Your rights

The Data Privacy Act gives you the following rights over your personal information. To exercise any of them, get in touch using the details below.

To be informed

To know that we hold personal data about you, and what we do with it. This page is part of how we tell you.

To access

To ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and to be told how it is being processed.

To object

To refuse processing where it goes beyond what you consented to or what the law allows.

To rectify

To have inaccurate or out-of-date information about you corrected.

To erasure or blocking

To have your data removed or withheld where it is incomplete, outdated, false, or no longer necessary.

To data portability

To obtain your data in a format you can take elsewhere.

To damages

To be compensated for harm caused by inaccurate, false, or unlawfully obtained personal data.

If you believe we have mishandled your information and we have not put it right, you may bring a complaint to the National Privacy Commission.

Keeping it safe

Sign-in is handled by a dedicated provider, so we never see or store your password. Access to member records is limited to those with administrative responsibility, and the site is served over an encrypted connection. No system is perfect, but if a breach ever put your rights at serious risk, we would notify you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.

Children

Children take part in the life of this church, and we may hold basic details about them as part of a family's membership record. Where a child is involved, we look to a parent or guardian to give consent and to speak for them in anything covered by this policy. Accounts on this site are intended for adults.
